Science-informed, not medical

The thinking behind ActiveMind Daily.

We summarise public guidance from the World Health Organization and the US National Institute on Aging. These organisations have not studied or endorsed ActiveMind Daily — their work informs the principles behind our design.

1.What is healthy brain aging?

WHO describes healthy ageing as maintaining the functional ability that lets people do what they value. For the mind, that means continuing to think, learn, communicate and take part in everyday life.

2.Why brain health is bigger than memory

Everyday cognitive life involves attention, language, reasoning, learning, curiosity and social participation — not memory alone. It's also shaped by physical health, sleep, nutrition, movement, relationships and managing health conditions.

3.Why social connection matters

WHO recognises social isolation and loneliness as significant concerns for older people and treats social connection as an important part of health and well-being.

4.Why lifelong learning matters

The National Institute on Aging describes learning new skills and staying intellectually engaged as part of an active lifestyle that researchers are studying for its relationship with cognitive health.

5.Why meaningful activity matters

Doing things that feel purposeful — hobbies, volunteering, conversation, creativity — is associated with well-being in later life. This is evidence about engagement in general, not about any single product.

6.Why consistency matters

Healthy-aging advice usually describes ongoing habits, not one-off efforts. The hard part for most people is doing something regularly, which is why ActiveMind Daily focuses on routine, encouragement and recognition.

7.Why ActiveMind Daily uses variety

There's no single magic brain exercise, and NIA notes commercial brain games haven't been shown to prevent decline. So we mix remembering, thinking, noticing, talking, creating, learning and sharing.

8.Why repeating a card can still be meaningful

Our cards are open prompts rather than puzzles with one answer. Memories, company, context and opinions change, so the same card can lead to a different story or conversation each time.

9. What ActiveMind Daily does

  • Supports an engaged lifestyle
  • Creates daily opportunities for mental and social engagement
  • Encourages participation through variety
  • Makes consistency easier with guidance and encouragement
  • Builds a routine around thinking, learning and connection

10. What we do not claim

  • Prevent dementia or Alzheimer's disease
  • Reverse or treat cognitive decline or memory impairment
  • Treat loneliness
  • Clinically improve memory or cognition
  • Replace medical evaluation or treatment
